Over 200 people of all ages attended MSP Aileen Campbell’s first Clydesdale Jobs Fair held in Lanark Auction Mart on 25th March. The event was opened by Youth Employment Minister Angela Constance and gave local residents the chance to engage with a wide range of employers and agencies about job opportunities in the region.

Visitors to the fair were able to take advantage of the 25 employers, training providers and agencies hosting stalls which included Tesco, Clydesdale Community Initiatives, SSE, South Lanarkshire Council, NHS Lanarkshire, Hazelhead HomeCare and many more.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

"We got a fantastic response to my jobs fair which attracted over 200 people from across the constituency and included people of all ages and backgrounds taking advantage of having a wide range of employers and agencies under one roof.

"I have made employment one of my top priorities and organising this fair for my constituents was a proactive and positive way to help people in Clydesdale by getting advice, knowledge about job and training opportunities and to get back on the job ladder.

"I was particularly pleased that Minister for Youth Employment, Angela Constance, was able to attend - her backing for this initiative and the time she spent speaking to people and local employers was really valuable. It was also great to get the help from Clydesdale’s newly elected MSYPs.

"I want to thank all the organisations for taking part - the feedback we received was extremely positive. This type of event is not possible without their commitment to the local area.

"The number of people who came today demonstrates how much people want the opportunity to work and I wish all those who attended all the best for the future. I will continue do all I can do to support employment opportunities and investment in Clydesdale."
