Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell has expressed her disappointment at the announcement that Blockbuster is to close 23 stores in Scotland, including Lanark, after it became the latest UK High Street firm to enter administration.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:
"It is saddening to hear that Blockbuster has followed HMV and Jessops into administration and is set to close stores across Scotland and here in Lanark.
"My office has been in contact with local staff to offer our help and support during this uncertain time.
"It was hoped the administrators would be able to find a way forward for the business and preserve as many jobs as possible, but unfortunately many staff are now facing redundancy.
"If anyone is affected by a redundancy situation they can contact the Scottish Government’s advice line free on 0808 100 1855."
