Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell visited Langlands Moss to find out more about the reserve and the efforts of the local community to preserve this unique habitat.



During her visit, which was organised by Maureen Potter, Chairperson of the Friends of Langlands Moss, Aileen Campbell was given a tour of the recently completed renovation works to the reserve’s boardwalks and shown how it will help to preserve the lowland raised peat bog for future generations.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

"It was nice to be able to visit the Langlands Moss nature reserve today to find out more about this unique habitat and the wildlife it attracts.

"The Friends of Langlands Moss, in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, have undertaken extensive renovation work to the boardwalks. The group are now looking forward to getting the interpretation boards and signage installed.

"This conservation work has improved public access and will make any visit to this rare peat bog more enjoyable and informative.

"When it is ready, I encourage anyone interested, to visit the reserve and experience this rare and important habitat which is right on our doorstep."

"I was delighted to welcome Aileen to Langlands Moss LNR on behalf of our Friends Group. She was very enthusiastic and supportive of all our conservation efforts over the past few years and seemed most impressed by the new boardwalk made from recycled plastic bottles."
