Commenting on the nominations for the Scottish Parliament Clydesdale Constituency, and the failure of the Liberal Democrats to field a candidate in the seat, SNP Candidate for Clydesdale Aileen Campbell said:

"Democracy is best served when people have a range of choices - but the reality in Clydesdale is that new boundaries make this seat a two-horse race between the SNP and Labour, no matter who the other candidates might be.

"I hope people who might have considered supporting the Liberal Democrat will now look seriously at the SNP as the best way to ensure their vote helps build a fairer, better Scotland.

"I pledge to be a strong local voice who will stand up against Labour plans for an incinerator at Dovesdale Farm and cuts to valuable local services. A re-elected SNP Government will continue to build a fairer Scotland, protecting the Council Tax freeze and investing in our health service.

"The last Scottish Parliament election was decided by just one seat. This time round, it could be Clydesdale that helps decide whether to protect Scotland’s progress with the SNP Government and Alex Salmond as first Minister - or risk it with someone else."
