Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for South of Scotland, joined veterans, civic leaders and local residents at the Service of Remembrance in Biggar on Sunday 14th November. Aileen, who lives in the town, was among those who laid a wreath at the war memorial before taking part in the service at St Mary’s Kirk.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

"It was an honour to take part in the service in Biggar and lay a wreath in remembrance of those who given their lives in war, both from the local community and across the country.

"The services commemorate the fallen not just from the World Wars of the 20th century but all the conflicts since, including those still taking place in Afghanistan and elsewhere in world.

"There was an incredible turnout for the service in Biggar, despite the snow, and it is especially encouraging to see the numbers of young people who want to recognise the legacy and sacrifices of previous generations."
