Practice plans to close Law medical surgery.

I have met with the Logan Practice in Wishaw to discuss the concerns in relation to the closure of the surgery in Law village, and the disappointment felt over the way this closure has been announced without prior consultation.

They are aware of the worry those registered under the medical practice have, and have sought to provide reassurance that nobody will lose their GP coverage as a result of the changes.

I have, however, conveyed to the practice the issues surrounding transport between the village and Wishaw, and my office is in discussion with SPT to look at any possible solutions. The practice acknowledges this problem, and advises that house visits by the GP will still be offered.

The practice has said that the existing surgery provided at the Law is not suitable for providing many of the services required, with the new centre in Wishaw better equipped to provide a fuller service for patients.

I will continue to be in discussion with the practice, SPT and the Council to seek solutions to the issues still posed by this closure.
