SNP MSP for Clydesdale Aileen Campbell has welcomed the announcement by Finance Secretary, Derek Mackay, today in the Scottish Budget that £600 million over 4 years is to be invested to deliver 100% superfast broadband to every home and premise in Scotland by the end of 2021.

This funding will help towards delivering the ‘Reaching 100’ programme which will connect all premises in Scotland to superfast broadband by end of 2021. The Scottish Government is on track to meet its target of 95% coverage by end of this year.

Welcoming the announcement, Ms Campbell said: “Access to reliable and speedy broadband is hugely important to residents and businesses across Clydesdale. The ‘Reaching 100’ programme, which will bring superfast broadband to every premise by end of 2021, is an ambitious and positive initiative from the Scottish Government to make Scotland a world-class digital nation.

“I am delighted that the procurement work for this programme starts now with the announcement of £600 million investment to make superfast broadband available to every home and every business premise in Scotland by 2021. This is the best deal of its kind in the UK and is great news for Clydesdale.”
