SNP MSP for Clydesdale, Aileen Campbell has welcomed the fiscal framework agreement between the Scottish and UK governments.
At First Minister’s Questions this week, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon highlighted the success of the Scottish Government in reaching a deal on the Fiscal Framework which means Scotland will not suffer financially for new powers. The First Minister emphasised that the agreement on the block grant adjustment will ensure that “not a single pound or even a penny” will be taken from the Scottish Government’s budget – allowing for new powers to be delivered to Scotland.
Commenting, Aileen said:
“I’m pleased the best deal has been reached – one which means Scotland will not be a penny worse off.
“This week John Swinney and Nicola Sturgeon stood up to the Tory Treasury and won – ensuring that Scotland will not pay a multibillion pound price-tag for the delivery of the new powers it was promised.
“The First Minister has rightly highlighted the support for the Scottish Government’s position throughout negotiations from across politics and wider society – showing that all along this was about getting the best deal for Scotland.”
