Having invited Marco Biagi, Minister for Local Government and Community Empowerment, to visit Clydesdale and see the great work being undertaken by community groups in the area, Aileen Campbell MSP was delighted to welcome Mr Biagi to the Carluke High Mill and Castlebank Park in Lanark. Aileen had arranged the visits and the meetings with the Carluke and Lanark Community Development Trusts to highlight the great work being undertaken by local groups in Carluke and Lanark, and give the groups the opportunity to share their experience with the minister.

Ms Campbell said:

"I was delighted to welcome my colleague Marco Biagi to Clydesdale to give him a taste of the great work going on in the area. Marco has consistently argued the case for local groups and organisations who are looking to develop community assets. In both the High Mill and the Castlebank Park projects we have two great examples of communities looking to enhance community resources to benefit local residents and attract more visitors to the area. I know that Marco was very impressed by the dedication of the volunteers and staff working tirelessly to make the projects a reality.

"The Scottish Government is committed to community-led regeneration in our towns and villages. The Community Empowerment Act is designed to make this process even easier so I am delighted that we have numerous projects across Clydesdale that shows how the community can work together to improve old assets."
