Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for Clydesdale has welcomed the latest funding announcement regarding Healthy Valleys Grassroots Project.

Healthy Valleys is a Clydesdale based charity which is a community led health initiative, established in 2003 by community members, voluntary and public sector agencies, with a vision to reduce health inequalities, promote positive lifestyles and improve health and wellbeing in rural South Lanarkshire communities. Their Grassroots Project offers a free service to pregnant women and families with children under 5 years old who are facing particular challenges and live in rural South Lanarkshire.

This Project has been awarded £455,268 by the Big Lottery’s Investing in Communities Fund.

Commenting, Campbell said:

"This award is testament to the amazing work Healthy Valleys do and the passion and commitment shown by those working with Healthy Valleys to make a positive difference across rural South Lanarkshire.

"I had the pleasure of attending the launch of Healthy Valley’s Grassroots project, as well as witnessing the publication of their recent research which confirmed what we all knew - that the project is excellent and is producing great results in the community.

"Clydesdale has a very strong community driven spirit, and that is reflected in the work of our local community projects. This funding will give Healthy Valleys the ability to help even more families in Clydesdale and empower communities to become more resilient and empowered. The funding will help families now but also for future generations to come. I’ve written to the Scottish Government to make sure that they are aware of the incredible success of this Grass Roots Programme."
